Bridgestone Debuts Revolutionary Bicycle Tyre
Bridgestone has developed a next-generation bicycle tyre that doesn’t require air, eliminating punctures and offering design flexibility that could enable bicycle concepts that have never been seen before.
The new tyre is the result of a joint venture between Bridgestone Corporation and Bridgestone Cycle, who aim to develop real-life applications for the “Air Free Concept”.
This technology combines a specialised structure of spokes that supports weight, while resins used in the spokes and rubbers are more efficient in their use of resources. Bridgestone is advancing research with the aim of having the concept available to the public by 2019.
Bridgestone aims to propose new ways of cycling utilising the “Air Free Concept” while also adapting this technology to be used in various other types of tyres, demonstrating the company’s commitment to developing sustainable and innovative mobility solutions.
